Driven Worldwide go Carbon Neutral!
We are all too aware of the problems relating to climate change and the environment as a whole. Recent statistics show that transport accounts for just over one-quarter of the UK's carbon emissions, a major contributor to the global warming effect that threatens such catastrophic damage to our environment.
This figure is forecast to rise by one-third over the next generation unless we significantly reduce carbon emissions, especially those produced by vehicles. Whilst a new generation of alternatively powered vehicles is being developed, it may be some time before these technologies are effective and available widely enough to make a substantial impact in reducing carbon emissions.
Driven Worldwide is committed protecting the environment, and to this end we have decided to address the carbon emissions that are being produced as a result of the services we carry out on behalf of our clients around the world.
We enlisted the help of The CarbonNeutral Company to ‘neutralise’ our Carbon footprint. Using complex mathematical formula and data such as vehicle types, regional percentages of work carried out, mileage, fuel types and other information, CarbonNeutral have assessed the size of the Carbon footprint that Driven Worldwide leaves on the planet and have assessed and advised us on how best we can erase that footprint in a sustainable manner.
We are pleased to say that this process has now been completed and the carbon emissions created by the 27,000 services around the world that Driven Worldwide performs annually are now being offset. We will continually monitor and adjust our investment according to the levels of business our clients produce to ensure we remain ‘Carbon Neutral’.
We are participating in two projects; the first is a forestry project in Lancashire, England that has been established to provide trees that not only ‘soak up’ CO2 emissions but also provide a woodland area for locals to visit and a much needed nature conservation area for local wildlife to thrive in.
The second project is a wind farm in New Zealand. This project was established to provide a large, rural area with electricity and completely negate the need to burn fossil fuels which cause carbon pollution to generate electricity. CarbonNeutral will continue to monitor the projects to ensure their compliance with their protocol.
The adoption of new, cleaner fuel and engine technology much certainly feature very strongly in our efforts to reduce damaging emissions but neutralising our Carbon footprint is something we can do right now to protect the environment we all share.

Driven Worldwide is hoping to repeat the success of its London and New York operations by opening a third office in Hong Kong towards the end of 2006.
Since it began trading in 2000, Driven has specialised in providing global chauffeur drive solutions to investment banks for financial roadshows, conferences, special events and VIP services.
Darren Tilley, Managing Director of Driven Worldwide comments:
‘Our move into Hong Kong will make us truly unique as the only international chauffeur drive provider with a physical presence in the Americas, EMEA and Asia Pacific regions. The intention is for our clients to realise very tangible benefits in productivity, convenience and cost by consolidating all their ground transportation logistics through one global provider instead of splitting it between three or more regional operators.’
Nikki Smith, one of Driven’s most experienced team members is being transferred to Hong Kong from London to help start and run the operation for the first year. Nikki has been with the company for three years and has gained a thorough knowledge of operations, accounting and business development, which has prepared her for this opportunity.
‘I am very excited about moving to Hong Kong and helping to set up a new operation there for Driven. It is a huge challenge but an amazing opportunity for Driven to develop a global presence that will benefit our clients.’
